Accessibility Statement
Last reviewed 4 September 2026.
Our commitment
NAAE is committed to making this website usable by everyone, including people who use screen readers, keyboard navigation, screen magnification, speech input, or other assistive technology.
Accreditation information is a public record. A public record that some people cannot read is not public, so accessibility is treated here as part of the disclosure obligation rather than as an enhancement.
Conformance status
This website is designed to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 at Level AA, and to meet WCAG 2.2 Level AA where its additional criteria apply.
We describe this site as partially conformant, which means it largely meets those guidelines but has not been fully verified. It has not yet been assessed by an independent auditor, and manual testing with screen readers has not yet been completed. We do not claim full conformance, and this statement will be updated when that assessment has taken place.
What we have done
- Interactive elements — menus, dialogs, form controls, filters — are built on established accessible component libraries rather than custom markup.
- Automated accessibility testing runs against every public page on this site on every change, covering WCAG 2.0, 2.1 and 2.2 Level A and AA criteria. A failure stops the change from being released.
- Every form field has a visible, permanent label. Placeholder text is never used in place of a label.
- Filter and search results announce how many results were found, so the change is perceivable without seeing the screen.
- Colour is never the only way information is conveyed. An accreditation status is always stated in words as well as shown.
- Colours are drawn from a fixed palette whose combinations have been contrast-checked.
- Every page has one main heading and no skipped heading levels.
- A "skip to main content" link is the first element on every page.
- Every interactive element has a visible focus indicator.
- No accessibility overlay or plugin is used on this site. Overlays do not confer conformance and can interfere with the assistive technology a visitor already uses.
Known limitations
We are aware of the following and are working on them:
- The "page not found" page needs JavaScript to display its content. The page returns the correct response to browsers, search engines and link checkers, but a visitor with JavaScript turned off will see an empty page.
- PDF documents published on this site have not been independently assessed for accessibility. NAAE’s policy is that action letters and public disclosure notices are published as tagged, accessible PDFs.
- Manual testing with screen readers, and an independent third-party audit, have not yet been carried out.
How this site was assessed
This statement is based on a self-assessment, supported by automated accessibility testing that runs on every change to the site. An independent audit is planned, and this statement will be revised once it is complete.
